All riders interested in joining will undergo assessment by the ride leaders prior to confirming their participation. This is an extreme ride and all riders are expected to have ridden multiple centuries and double centuries. As we will ride all through the night, it's advisable that riders have night riding experience as well as appropriate equipment.
Ride Description:
This amazing ride takes riders from the Boston suburbs straight to Times Square, NYC. Crossing a good portion of Massachusetts, the whole of Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, this monumental ride offers a bit of everything across 250 miles. We have ridden variations of this route over the past 3 years. Although no route is good after 150 miles, this selection takes us away from the busy northern neighborhoods of NYC, riding along the Hudson River on the NJ side, until a midtown crossing.
Benefiting from the long May/June days, we depart at night, see the sun rise in CT, and then ride towards NYC arriving in Times Square in the mid afternoon, to enjoy the buzzing lights of Manhattan.
This year, Boris will depart early and stop by a hotel along the route for a couple of hours of sleep. The group will meet through the night and ride together to NYC.
We usually stop every 40 miles or so. Please check the route to see the planned stops.
For return to Boston there are several options:
- Busses from West 30th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues to Cambridge or Newton - Go Busses - I have used before. Bike goes in the luggage compartment, but you should check before buying the ticket.
- Train from Penn Station to South Station (and others) - Amtrak - May require extra fee for bike and limited spots.
Ride Start Location:
Although we start at the Mighty Squirrel Brewing Co in Waltham, please plan to ride to the start. 24 hour parking is not recommended.
