Ride Description:
Adventure Cycling Association (ACA) created this route as a 3-day bikepacking tour. We are doing it in two days. Approximately 57-58 miles on Saturday and about 52 Sunday.
We start in Cranston, RI at the start of the Washington Secondary Path and take it 18 miles to the end through urban areas ending in rural RI. Then it's south to Burlingame State Park where we'll camp, about a mile from the coast. Saturday's route has a fair number of miles that are gravel/all-terrain. At the end of the day's ride, you may choose to go to the East Beach spur which is described as soft sand/push your bike, and if there's time, I will ride out to the beach after setting up camp also. Either bring food and cooking gear or do as I will - pick up food along the way to enjoy in camp.
Sunday, we'll start out by riding to the beach. I plan to visit Dave's Coffee and Quonnie Farms on the way out for coffee/breakfast.
The route is designed for all-terrain bikepacking that I still need to verify is not single track, or I will create a detour route. The off-road part coincides mainly with Rhode Island's North South Trail that runs inland from Massachusetts to the ocean: this is more info on that trail that runs right through Burlingame State Park campground: https://ridewithgps.com/ambassador_routes/2312-nst-north-south-trail-bikepacking-rockge if you want to check out the sections that the ACA route uses.
Cost is your portion of a campsite, no more than $10. I'll collect it in cash/check/Paypal at the campground.
Ride Start Location:
Start at Lowe's Home Improvement (address 247 Garfield Ave in Cranston, RI) is on a list of retailers that allow overnight parking. See What Stores Allow Overnight Parking in 2024? [List With Maps] (outdoorsynomad.com) for more. This parking lot is at the start of the Washington Secondary Bike Path where we start.

Note this route is from Adventure Cycling Association and starts a couple miles north in Providence. To avoid a confusing urban start, we start at about mile 2.
