Ride Description:

It's X-Mass in July! Cycle across Massachusetts (X-Mass), from near the NY state border to the port in Provincetown, in 40h! The ride starts from the summit of Mt Greylock (opportunity to stay overnight at Bascomb Lodge for an early start) then a beautiful journey through the Berkshires and along the CT and RI borders before arriving at Buzzard's Bay. A short stay for rest and food is followed by a beautiful tour of Cape Cod light houses and eateries with a chance to watch the sunset from P-Town and catch a ferry back to Boston (last ferry leaves at 9pm). This is an unsupported ride and riders will have to arrange for their own travel to the start (Amtrak and carpool are potential options and the ride leader will provide bike transport options). A separate ride from Wachusett MBTA to Mt Greylock will be posted for the day prior to accommodate an out-and-back trip using only bikes and MBTA. This is an epic cross-state ride and riders should be prepared to handle minor mechanical issues along the way. Bailout options, if needed, are shown on the route map.
A mandatory pre-ride meeting will be scheduled in late June to go over travel logistics and to make final ride plans.
Ride Start Location:
The ride starts at 5:30am at the summit of Mt Greylock in Adams, MA. Riders are encouraged to stay overnight at Bascomb Lodge (located on Greylock summit) to get an early start. Also, consider arriving in time for dinner the night before (7pm) to meet your fellow riders and enjoy the views from the summit. There will be an early AM group descending the mountain and climbing to the summit at sunrise, as an added challenge.
