Join NECCD for a ride celebrating the life and legacy of Henry Ar Foon, a groundbreaking Chinese American cyclist whose story is an inspiring part of Massachusetts cycling history.
Born in 1874, Henry Ar Foon was reportedly the first Chinese child born in the Boston area. In 1897, he became president of the Winnisimmet Cycle Club of Chelsea, making him one of the earliest known Chinese American cycling club leaders in the United States.
This ride offers both a scenic journey and a connection to the past. We’ll explore Wompatuck State Park, follow the beautiful Jerusalem Road in Cohasset, and continue to Scituate, where Henry later lived and is buried. Riders will have the chance to learn more about his remarkable life while enjoying some of the South Shore’s best cycling roads.
This event is open to all riders who wish to honor Henry Ar Foon’s pioneering spirit and celebrate inclusion in cycling.
