Big Flat Ride

CRW Rides are open to members and limited guests. Guests may only attend two rides before joining.
All riders (both Members and Guests) must REGISTER

If a rider has not pre-registered, that rider must do so online at the start of the ride. 

The online registration will include a liability waiver that all riders will need to review and accept. 

The online registration will also require all riders to review CRW’s Safety and COVID Guidelines and to agree to follow those guidelines on the ride.

 

Its time to get up, get out, and get on it!  It may be cold, but the ground is dry so come join your Devo friends for a January Century on a flat-ish route out to Pepperell and back.  There are plenty of options to stop and warm up, approximately every 15mi.  If the weather isn't too cold, we'll stick to 3 official rest stops in Westford (Muffin's on Main), Groton (Salt & Light or Dunkin), and Maynard (Dunkin).  The ride leader will aim for 14-16mph overall avg speed.

Note:  Due to the elevated risk of black ice, we will use extra caution on turns and make extra efforts to avoid any pockets of debris on the road.  Since the temperature may fluctuate >15 F, multiple layers of clothing and chemical hand and foot warmers are recommended.

Directions: 

Alewife Station is reachable by car on Route 2, and there is ample paid parking; by car or bicycle on Alewife Brook Parkway; on paths from the west (Fitchburg Cutoff path), north (Minuteman Commuter Bikeway) and east (Linear Park). And Alewife Station is the terminus of the Red Line light rail, which takes bicycles except during peak hours in the peak direction. Ride groups meet in front of the parking garage on Steel Place.
