Â
Have you been looking for a long, hard/hilly ride that leaves early on a weekend morning and gets you home by lunch? The Mighty Squirrel is for you. This metric century takes you from Waltham out to the Harvard hills and back and is targeted at experienced riders who can maintain an average pace of 15/16, or 18/19 mph.
Â
This is a tempo ride and we’ll go as a group, breaking into packs of up to 10 riders depending on the number of people who show up. Navigation is via GPS. The ride leader may hold the group while riders fix small mechanicals.
Â
We suggest you bring your favorite gels, bars, drinks for the ride. We will make one brief stop at the parking area of Haskell Field at mile 17.8/KM 28.7Â and then a longer rest stop at the Harvard General Store for a hot beverage and snack. During Winter the only restrooms available will be at Mighty Squirrel and Harvard General Store.Â
WE WILL RETURN TO THE USUAL 7:30AM STARTING TIME FROM APRIL ON!
Â
Please plan to be there 10-15 minutes prior to the start.
Â
Please check for weather cancelations day prior to the ride by 8PM.
Â
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE UPDATED ROUTE TO YOUR GPS DEVICE! This is a CRW-Devo ride.
Â
Participants will be able to accumulate elevation towards the Climbing Challenge https://www.strava.com/clubs/155/posts/16516924
Â
*** Bring proper navigation tools: GPS device, phone app, or cue sheet. Do not rely on others to help you with navigation. They may ride at a different speed than you. ***
