To reach the Cambridge Minuteman trailhead by subway, take the MBTA Red Line to the Alewife Station. Bicycles are allowed on weekends and during off-peak hours on weekdays; see mbta.com for details.

To reach the Cambridge Minuteman trailhead by car from I-95, take Exit 29A to MA 2 toward Boston. Go 5.9 miles and take the Alewife Station exit. The Alewife Station Access Road becomes Steel Place. Go 0.4 mile and turn left into the parking garage (fee charged).

A great way to meet other women CRW members!

This is a low-traffic, scenic ride through Lexington, Burlington, Woburn, Winchester, and Arlington! The ride leaves from the Minuteman Bikeway terminus near Alewife (at the intersection of three bike paths: Fitchburg Cutoff, Alewife Linear, and Minuteman). We head down the Minuteman bikeway to Lexington Center, then to Burlington and up Blanchard Rd to the water tower at Mary Cummings Park. We descend to beautiful Horn Pond, spin past Mystic Lakes, and take our "secret" route back to Alewife (that cuts out the traffic in Arlington Center). Expect a pace of about 13-15 mph, with stops to regroup as needed (faster riders can form groups to make their own time).
Rain cancels. Will make call by 10 pm the night before. Will check again at 6 am in case of unexpected weather.

Nashua River Rail Trail

0 Station Avenue
Groton , MA
Directions:

From I-495, take exit 31 to Rt 119 West and continue for about 7.0 miles to Groton center. Turn left onto Station Avenue before Groton Town Hall, drive to the end and park alongside the Rail Trail. Or take the Fitchburg commuter rail line to the Ayer station, then the trail: schedule is here: https://mbta.com/schedules/CR-Fitchburg/timetable

Ride image:

The CRW Women's Program Committee has planned this lovely ride through Groton, Pepperell and Hollis in conjunction with Winterfest activities at the Prescott Community Center in Groton. The route features quintessential New England farmhouses, stone walls, pastures, orchards and an alpaca farm too. Don’t let the chilly air deter you. There are some hills early on that will have us feeling toasty in no time. Stay for a post-ride coffee compliments of CRW and enjoy the festival and art fair featuring local artisans, food trucks, musicians and more. Wear your festive holiday attire (think “ugly” sweater) 😀 and we will provide the bells!

* Please note there are no bathrooms at the ride start. Shaw’s at 760 Boston Rd is a good option en route to Groton Center.

Notes:

Dirt Alert: Please note there is a 0.3 mile section of dirt at the end of Maple Avenue in Groton. It is well graded and easily ridden on your road bike. Proceed carefully and you'll be through it in no time.

Aero Coffee Roasters

NOTE:  THE START TIME HAS BEEN MOVED TO 9 AM FOR BOTH DISTANCES.

Join the Women’s Program Committee for a beautiful, scenic, social Halloween-themed ride starting in Northborough at the amazing Aero Coffee Roasters. Halloween garb is encouraged, but not required!  Either way, you'll get the chance to wind your way through some of the most beautiful roads in Berlin, Bolton and surrounding towns. This no-drop ride takes us on the most exquisite quiet, rolling country roads during this perfect time of year.

Both the short and long route offer tricks and treats aplenty.  You'll be treated to bucolic, tree-lined rural roads with very little traffic, a particular delight when dressed in Fall colors. The 34-mile route is more hilly and includes several significant climbs, including the always-popular and steep Green Street hill. The 19-mile route, also hilly, avoids Green Street, but still includes some tricky uphills nonetheless. Never fear, you'll be treated to some beautiful views and some great downhill sections as your reward!

Not sure about the hills? DON'T WORRY - we will get up the hills together! And anyway, this is where you get to cash in on all the hard work you've put in this season.
Unfortunately, since this ride was moved to Sunday, there are no longer rest stops that we can guarantee are open, however, there will be multiple opportunities to regroup throughout the ride.

Whichever you choose, it will be a perfect chance to get to know other women CRW members and reconnect with all the good friends you’ve already made out there. Oh, and bring a friend! The more the merrier!

All registered riders will get a free superfood bar pre-ride, and free post-ride coffee at Aero Coffee. CRW members will also be eligible for CRW socks and water bottle raffle!  There is a restroom at the start and Aero will have a water cooler at the start for us. A special prize will be awarded for best Halloween kit! :-)
