Some of it may be rough, sandy, & muddy. According to Strava, the route is 60% unpaved. Tires 32–35mm should be sufficient. If you are familiar with the route you can show-and-go at your own pace; if you are new, we will have a no-drop group.

A gravel ride starting at the Danvers High School combining, unpaved rail trails, country roads, and jeep trails. Neither techy nor strenuous but the jeep trails in the Willowdale reservation can be variable. Bring your gravel or mountain bikes (or even your road bike if you're adventurous). We'll make a diversion to the Topsfield Bakery for lunch. The Topsfield Fair is happening this weekend and the route goes right by it. Never having been there, I'll the stop in for a look/see.

A gravel ride on dirt roads and bikeable trails around Concord. We are never more than a few miles from Concord Center and the route crosses numerous major roads leading back to the start allowing easy bailouts. The route is a good intro to non techy gravel biking while imparting some skills needed to participate in the frequently held "gravel grinder" events that occur in New England. Bring a gravel or mountain bike with tires > 28mm and pressures sufficiently low to enable comfortable passage over bad pavement.

Today's ride will be training oriented at new gravel bikers with a suitably slow pace and a more cohesive grouping ethic than is the norm.

Meet at the Keyes St parking lot on the side AWAY FROM THE RESTROOMS at 10:30am Thursday 9/23/21. Figure about 2.5 hours elapsed time. Any questions call or text Gene @ 617-610-1875

***CRW WATER BOTTLE RAFFLE: Swag will be raffled off to 2 registered riders! ***
*** FREE BEER: CRW will buy each rider a post-ride beer at Deciduous Brewing! ***
Start / Finish / Parking: Deciduous Brewing Co, 12 Weaver St, Newmarket, NH. The library and restaurants don't open until noon on Sunday so parking here is ok.
Stops: mile 21: Liar's Paradise General Store; mile 42: Coffee Craving

Description: Raid Rockingham is 60-mile route that includes about 25 miles packed gravel roads and an optional Class VI adventure segment.
Gear: You'll want to bring at least one tube (2 would be better), patches, and a pump. A multi-tool, chain-breaker, and link would be a good idea. Wide 32 – 35mm (or wider) tires will be most suitable. Make sure your bike is in good working order before you arrive; you are self-supported for mechanicals. A helmet is required. A smartphone or GPS for navigation could be handy.

Raid Rockingham was created by LOCO Cycling, aka GRVL Cycling: https://ridewithgps.com/users/65701
We are doing this route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37428480

Notes:

Meet at Deciduous Brewing Co, 12 Weaver St, Newmarket, NH. Please get there at 7:45 so we can roll at 8:00 AM.
Ride limited to ~7 plus the leader. Please stay home if sick or not vaccinated.
This is a GRAVEL ride. Wide 32 –35 mm tires will be most suitable.
We will average ~14mph with 2 stops for food.
This is a no-drop ride, but riding gravel is harder than riding paved roads. If you can't average 14mph on dirt with some climbing (17mph paved road equivalent) then this ride may not be for you. I want to get home in time for the Pats game.
Due to the challenge of this ride, the leader may request additional information from registrants prior to being accepted for the ride. We appreciate your understanding.
