Directions:

Rt. 128/95 to Exit 29, Rt. 2 West. Go 4.6 mi., look for the Rt. 126 sign, and turn right at that intersection onto Walden Street. Bear right at the fork. At 1.2 mi. in Concord Center make a left onto Main St. and a right into the town parking lot. The Visitor Center is at the south end of the parking lot. By commuter rail and bicycle: From the Concord station, head north on Sudbury Road, which merges into Main Street, then take the first left onto Keyes Rd -- about 1 mi. 18 miles on jeep roads and trails around Concord. Mostly off road but crossing many of the main roads into/out of Concord allowing easy bailouts if time or energy run out. Plan on 3 hours for slow riders and 2.5 or less for those with MTb or CX experience. No drops and I'll ride with the slower folks. More techy than a road ride but less intimidating than mountain biking - hence the name "gravel ride". Start at the Keyes St parking lot in Concord Center at 9:00. Join us for a fun and social gravel/mixed terrain ride! This ride is mostly on wide gravel roads & rail trail. Some of it may be rough, sandy, & muddy. According to Strava, the route is 60% unpaved. Tires 32–35mm should be sufficient. If you are familiar with the route you can show-and-go at your own pace; if you are new, we will have a no-drop group.

A journey through Revolutionary War history. Start at Revolution Hall and ride via Meagherville trail and residential streets to the eastern entrance to Minuteman National Historic Park. Follow the Battle Road past several historic buildings, soldier graves, Paul Revere capture site, all the way to the other side of the park at Meriam's Corner. Continue over trails through Concord farmland and open space.

Loop back on historic rail beds that connected Lexington-Bedford-Concord: Reformatory Branch & Minute Man Bikeway. Finish at Revolution Hall, probably in the dark, and treat yourself to a beer!

From I-95/Rte-128 take Exit 51A for US-3 S/Cambridge St. Head south for 2.8 miles.
Turn left onto Pond St, just after Whole Foods in Horn Pond Plaza. (Pond St turns into Lake Ave.)
Drive 0.7 miles and the parking lot is on the left by the pond, directly across from Horn Pond Apartments at 48 Lake Ave, Woburn MA.

The Across Lexington trails provide the perfect mixed terrain ride. Many intermediate trails with a few challenging sections and an occasional paved section connecting the trails.

From Rt. 128, north or south, take Rt. 16 west/Wellesley exit. Proceed west on Rt. 16 past the intersection with Rt. 9 (at about 1.1 mile), and then past several (2 or 3) traffic lights. After the traffic light at the intersection with Rockland/Forest St., Rice St. is the next left. Turn left on Rice, and after a short distance the High School will appear on the left. The High School is about 0.4 mi from the Wellesley Hills commuter rail station: take Washington Street west, turn left onto Forest Street and right onto Paine Street. 17.2 miles on gravel paths and trails in Wellesley, Needham, and Dover. A greatly de-tuned version of a training ride used by the local CX racers. Meet at 10:00 AM at the entrance to the Wellesley High School parking lot. Although it's about the same length as the Wednesday Battle Rd ride, it takes about 2X the time. More climbing and the terrain has more texture. Bring a gravel or mountain bike. You'll want RWGPS on your smart phone or a GPS device with a map interface. Re-scheduled from Saturday to Sunday due to rain. Starting at the Northeast Regional Voc Ed School in Wakefield, we'll bike through the Breakheart Revervation, the Lynn Woods, the Spring Pond trails, and Gallows Hill to Salem. Bring a gravel bike or its functional equivalent. The roads and trails thru the reservations are not maintained to automotive standards and they're rougher than town maintained dirt roads. But they're bikeable for gravel tires. Start at 10:00 and plan to arrive in Marblehead between 12:00 and 1:00. The usual finish time is between 2:00 and 3:00. Starting at the Northeast Regional Voc Ed School in Wakefield, we'll bike through the Breakheart Revervation, the Lynn Woods, the Spring Pond trails, and Gallows Hill to Salem. A short tour of Salem to the House of 7 Gables, leads us to the bike path to Marblehead. Arriving in M'hd between 12:00 and 1:00 allows for a lunch in town (I suggest Java Sun since it's on the route and has outdoor seating). Back on the rail trail to the Swampscott and Lynn shore. The Lynnway brings us to the Eastern Strand bike path back the Breakheart reservation and the endpoint. Lots of twists and turns in the route keep the speed down. Plan on a finish between 2:00 and 3:00. . This time of year, everything is weather dependent. Temps, rain, snow, and strong winds may force a change in plans. You'll need a gravel bike or its functional equivalent. Everything is bikeable by normal people but the trails and carriage roads are not maintained to automotive standards.
