Enjoy scenic routes on quiet country roads with plenty of shade and a variety of climbing. Bring your big gears for the hills and a camera for the views. We'll cycle through Pepperell and Hollis with a stop at Moulton's Market before climbing to the top of Mont Vernon. We descend through downtown Milford with an optional Bakery stop then on to Brookline for the next big climb past Parker's Maple Barn and the birthplace of Uncle Sam. The mid-point of the ride in Mason is the high-point in elevation with a unobstructed view of Pack Monadnock followed by a long slow descent to Townsend. We pass through Pearl State Park and two recreational lakes in Townsend and Shirley, then head back through Groton to Pepperell for the finish.

Different riders may ride at different paces, so we will regroup at the rest-stop in Brookline near mile 40.

There is a Cumberland Farms in Pepperell, noted on the route, with indoor restrooms if you need to stop and gather water and food before the start of the ride.

Have you been looking for a long, hard/hilly ride that leaves early on a weekend morning and gets you home by lunch? The Mighty Squirrel is for you. This metric century takes you from Waltham out to the Harvard hills and back and is targeted at experienced riders who can maintain an average pace of 15/16, or 18/19 mph.

This is a tempo ride and we’ll go as a group, breaking into packs of up to 10 riders depending on the number of people who show up. Navigation is via GPS. The ride leader may hold the group while riders fix small mechanicals.

We suggest you bring your favorite gels, bars, drinks for the ride. We will make one brief stop at the parking area of Haskell Field at mile 17.8/KM 28.7 and then a longer rest stop at the Harvard General Store for a hot beverage and snack.

SPECIAL NOTE: In November and December 2021 we will be offering food and drinks to riders!

WE RETURNED TO THE USUAL 7:30AM STARTING TIME FROM APRIL ON!

Please plan to be there 10-15 minutes prior to the start.

Please check for weather cancelations day prior to the ride by 8PM.

Reason for cancellation:
Sadly, we are rained out for the last ride of the season. But there will be a SWAG raffle for those who have been on the ride this season. The leader is working on this now. Of course, you are always welcome to ride the route unofficially, as some do

Ride Start:

Meriam's Corner Parking Lot

Lexington Road
Meriam's Corner Concord , MA
Directions:

From Route 95 Take exit 46B (Old Exit 30B) for Route 2A West. Pass flashing yellow light at Hanscom Drive and continue to second flashing light at fork; stay right onto Lexington Road AKA Battlefield Road. There will be a  sign for parking for Meriam's Corner.

With the lifting of Covid 19 restrictions in the state, drafting and pace line riding is back on the calendar! Further, the Thursday night fitness rides continue to evolve with changing circumstances and new opportunities. In particular, CRW has launched a new ride concept called "Devo" for Development for all riders who want to improve their performance and enjoyment of cycling.  The long route is 28.7 miles for rolling hills through Concord, Acton, Chelmsford and Carlisle. The 26 mile route makes a slight detour into Kate's Corner and picks up the long route arrows on Proctor Road.  Groups are divided into 8-10 riders by average pace which ranges from 14 to 22+ mph. A No Drop Pace Line is available if 3-4 riders are interested - we start at around 14 - 15 mph and pick up the pace depending on the experience of the participants. There is an optional 18 and 24 mile route for casual riding and limited daylight.  Cancellation due to poor weather is posted before 4:30 PM.

CRW Membership REQUIRED. Register here for free to express your interest https://forms.gle/yuJTMzSZ3QXHJUqx5

The event will follow a “virtual” (all-day) format to start, and we hope to incorporate some more social elements later on in the season (hopefully soon!). I appreciate that so many of you have requested this feature, and we are looking at the best way to offer this as safety allows.

For the time being, you can coordinate with other riders on the CRW Slack or to find a buddy to ride / warm-up with.

How this event will work:

Full Rider Instructions - Please Read https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qf7DRKAVM8vZJk9STYqhFNtxNKDubbE5zjt-...

Results will be published on a weekly basis, and you will be able to track your progress throughout the year.
