Just West of Boston, near the start of the Boston Marathon is the quiet city of Upton. Home to tranquil and twisty New England roads that are excellent for cycling, Upton is the perfect gateway to many short yet challenging climbs and fast descents. One thing you won’t find much of is flat terrain. With over 19 unique climbs (including one Cat 4) ascending almost 6,000 feet in just over 75 miles, this ride may feel more like a rollercoaster than your typical city or bike path ride.

----------------------

We will make one stop approximately halfway through the ride for Coffee and fuel at the Village Bean.  Have a free coffee or beverage of your choice, courteousy of CRW.

----------------------

This route is easily accessible by car (Exit 54 on I-495) and can also be accessed via the Southborough MBTA station which is about 8 Miles and 600 feet of elevation away (see supplemental route).

Those who wish to cycle out from the city will find the start point is just over 3 miles from the start of the Boston Marathon.

-----------------------

Start time is be 7:00 AM. Plan to be ready to go by 6:45 AM. The train from Boston arrives at the Southboro MBTA station at 6:01 AM so you will have plenty of time to cycle over and grab a coffee before we start.  Muffin House Cafe, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Cumberland Farms, and Alltown Fresh are all located along the supplemental route to the ride start.

We should be back around Noon for an overall average pace of 14 MPH and moving pace of around 16 MPH. For those who want a challenge, there are plenty of segments to target along the way.

------------------------

This is a show-and-go ride and we will regroup at the top of some climbs and the rest stop, but riders are free to ride at their own preferred pace.
