From MA-2 west, turn right onto Walden St, turn left onto Thoreau St. Train schedule is here: http://mbta.com/schedules/CR-Fitchburg
Bicycle tour at leisurely pace to enjoy colorful views from top of Wachusett Mountain & country roads to Concord.
MBTA plans to have a bicycle car on the train for us with plenty of capacity. Warm up on the gentle climb from Wachusett commuter rail station for the first 10km, before the steep climb starts to Wachusett observation tower, passing under the ski chair lifts. Lunch stop is in Princeton: bread, soup, salad, & sandwiches at Mountainside Market.
It is a long rolling descent afterwards for about 30km until we climb to Harvard for warm coffee at the general store.
After a few climbs to Littletown, we continue on rolling hills all the way back to Concord for ice cream at Bedford Farms or dinner.
This will be self-guided tour, even though we will try to stay together as a group. Bring GPS device, phone with navigation apps, or cue sheets for the routes you plan to ride. We will not provide them.
Bring small handlebar bag to carry extra clothes, gear, snacks, USB battery, lights, & hydration capsules.
T Time rides are those that combine train & ferry public transport service around Boston. T could mean train, tour, or a cup of tea. The idea is to reach routes far from city center or take one-way routes. These rides are often leisurely tours for a full day that allows several stops to take pictures, rest on the town green, dip in the water, & sample bakeries.
Adjust your start & finish location as you see fit based on closest train station to you. Option for shorter ride stop at Littleton commuter rail station for train at 16:16.
