Concord Intermediate Gravel

CRW Rides are open to members and limited guests. Guests may only attend two rides before joining.

If a rider has not pre-registered, that rider must do so online at the start of the ride. 

The online registration will include a liability waiver that all riders will need to review and accept. 

The online registration will also require all riders to review CRW’s Safety and COVID Guidelines and to agree to follow those guidelines on the ride.

 

Join us for a fun and social intermediate gravel/mixed terrain ride. This ride is a bit more technical than the Battle Road ride and is mostly on fire roads with some technical roots, sand and rocks. There are also a few smooth single-track sections. This route has been updated and is now 75% unpaved. If you have gravel tires 32–35mm, and have ridden on the Estabrook portion of the Dirty Battle Road, you should be fine.

We will start at Meriam's Corner parking area and ride on the Battle Road to the gravel Bedford Lane, up and over Route 2 to Sandy Pond, and then around (with a short incline) Pine Hill and into Codman (new this week) and Adams Woods. Also new this week is a visit to the old boat house of Fairhaven Bay. We will then go back into the woods around Goose Pond and under Route 2 via a spooky tunnel. After crossing Route 2, we see the Thoreau and Dr. Seuss memorials and head back to Meriam's corner.

With more gravel this ride will not be as quick as the Battle road ride (expect around 2 hrs), but with a 5:00 start we have plenty of time before dark.

 

*** Bring proper navigation tools: GPS device, phone app, or cue sheet. Do not rely on others to help you with navigation. They may ride at a different speed than you. *** 

*** Bring bug spray – this is tick season, and we will be in the woods for the majority of the ride***

Rain cancels. Ride leader will make the call by noon on the day of the ride.

Directions: 

From Route 95 Take exit 46B (Old Exit 30B) for Route 2A West. Pass flashing yellow light at Hanscom Drive and continue to second flashing light at fork; stay right onto Lexington Road AKA Battlefield Road. There will be a  sign for parking for Meriam's Corner.
