19.4 Gravel Maynard Assabet Wildlife

CRW Rides are open to members and limited guests. Guests may only attend two rides before joining.

If a rider has not pre-registered, that rider must do so online at the start of the ride. 

The online registration will include a liability waiver that all riders will need to review and accept. 

The online registration will also require all riders to review CRW’s Safety and COVID Guidelines and to agree to follow those guidelines on the ride.

 

We frequently bike around the Assabett Wildlife Sanctuary.  Let's explore the many dirt roads inside it.  Start at 10:00 AM from the Sudbury St parking lot of the Mill in Maynard.  The bike path takes us to the Sanctuary (an old WW2 ammo dump).  Takes about 2.5 hours to ride.  Pretty flat and not techy but the GPS signal is sketchy with the tree cover.  Navigation can be challenging if you haven't been there before.  Best not to get too strung out on this one.

Directions: 

From the east: Take RT 2 west to Concord. Get off onto Main St/RT 62 WEST. Drive 4.2 miles into Maynard. At traffic light go STRAIGHT onto Parker St/RT 27 SOUTH. Drive 0.6 miles and turn RIGHT onto Great Rd/RT 117 WEST. Drive 0.6 and turn RIGHT onto Sudbury St. Parking lot is on right.

From the west: Take RT 495 to EXIT 27/Bolton. Drive EAST on RT 117 7.5 miles across Stow into Maynard. Turn LEFT onto Sudbury St. Parking lot is on right.
