***CRW SOCK RAFFLE: One pair of the awesome, new, not-available-for-purchase CRW club socks will be raffled off to a registered MEMBER rider who has not already won a pair!!!***
A great way to meet other women CRW members!

This is a low-traffic, scenic ride through Lexington, Burlington, Woburn, Winchester, and Arlington! The ride leaves from the Minuteman Bikeway terminus near Alewife (at the intersection of three bike paths: Fitchburg Cutoff, Alewife Linear, and Minuteman). We head down the Minuteman bikeway to Lexington Center, then to Burlington and up Blanchard Rd to the water tower at Mary Cummings Park. We descend to beautiful Horn Pond, spin past Mystic Lakes, and take our "secret" route back to Alewife (that cuts out the traffic in Arlington Center). Expect a pace of about 13-14 mph, with stops to regroup as needed (faster riders can form groups to make their own time).
Rain cancels. Will make call by 10 pm the night before. Will check again at 5 am in case of unexpected weather.

By commuter rail and bicycle: From the Concord station, head north on Sudbury Road, which merges into Main Street, then take the first left onto Keyes Rd -- about 1 mi. Train schedule is here: https://mbta.com/schedules/CR-Fitchburg/timetable

Ride image:

A gravel ride on dirt roads and bikeable trails around Concord. We are never more than a few miles from Concord Center and the route crosses numerous major roads leading back to the start allowing easy bailouts. The route is a good intro to non techy gravel biking while imparting some skills needed to participate in the frequently held "gravel grinder" events that occur in New England. Bring a gravel or mountain bike with tires > 28mm and pressures sufficiently low to enable comfortable passage over bad pavement.

Today's ride will be training oriented at new gravel bikers with a suitably slow pace and a more cohesive grouping ethic than is the norm.

Meet at the Keyes St parking lot on the side AWAY FROM THE RESTROOMS at 10:30am Thursday 9/23/21. Figure about 2.5 hours elapsed time. Any questions call or text Gene @ 617-610-1875
