A great way to meet other women CRW members!

Start your weekend off right with a low-traffic, scenic ride through Lexington, Burlington, Woburn, Winchester, and Arlington! The ride leaves from the Minuteman Bikeway terminus near Alewife. We head down the path to Lexington Center, then cut over to Burlington and up Blanchard Rd to the water tower at Mary Cummings Park. We descend to beautiful Horn Pond, spin past Mystic Lakes, and take our "secret" route back to Alewife (that cuts out the traffic in Arlington Center). Expect a pace of about 13-14 mph, with stops to regroup as needed (faster riders can form groups to make their own time).
Rain cancels. Will make call by 10 pm the night before. Will check again at 5 am in case of unexpected weather.

The Bike Thursday Ride this week (7/15/21) will start in Carlisle.  We will be ambling through the hills and back roads of Carlisle, Concord, Acton and Chelmsford.  We will traverse the conveyance section of Chelmsford, streets named for all vehicles of transportation except maybe "buggy," then the bumpy section of Curve Street and on back to our starting point.  If that's not enough for you, bring your hiking boots and enjoy the trails of Carlisle.  Total mileage is just under 22 miles.

The ride starts at 10:00 AM.  Registration is mandatory and will be limited to 24 participants plus 3 leaders.  We will be following the CRW riding rules.  Riders will be split into 2 or 3 groups depending on the number of riders and pace.  The overall pace of this ride will average between 10 - 13 mph and the groups will stay together.

Please check your calendar before signing up for the ride as you can not cancel through this site.  If you need to cancel please follow the instructions on your confirmation email or email Barbara Jacobs at nyder.jacobs [at] gmail.com.

Ride Start:

Meriam's Corner Parking Lot

Lexington Road
Meriam's Corner Concord , MA
Directions:

From Route 95 Take exit 46B (Old Exit 30B) for Route 2A West. Pass flashing yellow light at Hanscom Drive and continue to second flashing light at fork; stay right onto Lexington Road AKA Battlefield Road. There will be a  sign for parking for Meriam's Corner.

With the lifting of Covid 19 restrictions in the state, drafting and pace line riding is back on the calendar! Further, the Thursday night fitness rides continue to evolve with changing circumstances and new opportunities. In particular, CRW has launched a new ride concept called "Devo" for Development for all riders who want to improve their performance and enjoyment of cycling. This is a natural "fit" for the Thursday night fitness rides.I hope to add other development opportunities in addition to pace line riding; Not all the details are worked out yet so this will be a work in progress. I welcome any thoughts you might have: Email: kathy.j.horvath [at] gmail.com.   The long route is 28.7 miles for rolling hills through Concord, Acton, Chelmsford and Carlisle. The 26 mile route makes a slight detour into Kate's Corner and picks up the long route arrows on Proctor Road.  Groups are divided into 8-10 riders by average pace which ranges from 14 to 22+ mph. A Pace Line Clinic is held each month. This Pace Line is No Drop and we start around 14 - 15 mph and we pick up the pace depending on the experience of the participants. There is an optional Alt 23 mile route for casual riding and limited daylight.  Cancellation due to poor weather is posted before 4:30 PM.
