Cancel ride:
Ride is cancelled
Reason for cancellation:
Depite the reprieve from the rain now, it's forecast to resume during the ride. I'll schedule a shorter, work schedule friendlier version for later in the week.
Listing Type:
Ride
Ride Start:

Municipal Parking Lot-Concord-Keyes Rd

150 Keyes Rd
Concord , MA
Directions:

Rt. 128/95 to Exit 29, Rt. 2 West. Go 4.6 mi., look for the Rt. 126 sign, and turn right at that intersection onto Walden Street. Bear right at the fork. At 1.2 mi. in Concord Center make a left onto Main St. and a right into the town parking lot. The Visitor Center is at the south end of the parking lot. By commuter rail and bicycle: From the Concord station, head north on Sudbury Road, which merges into Main Street, then take the first left onto Keyes Rd -- about 1 mi. Train schedule is here: https://mbta.com/schedules/CR-Fitchburg/timetable

Monday JUNE 14, 2021 STARTING AT 5:00 PM. The longest days of the year are now. Let's use the extra hours to explore the local gravel roads. 21 miles of road and, mostly, gravel starting at the Keyes St parking lot in Concord. We'll take in Mattison Field, Wright Woods, Sandy Pond, the Minuteman Trail, the Reformatory Trail, and Estabrook rd. Bring your gravel or mountain bike and a pump. The dirt roads can be rough and you may want lower tire pressure than what you'd use on the road. Makes a big difference when negotiating the inevitable roots and rocks. Figure about 3+ hours. Long days notwithstanding, bring a light. If the weather forecast deteriorates I may cancel. Stay tuned and check the gravel Slack channel.

TODAY'S (June 14) RIDE CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN

Note the new start time:  5:30 pm.   Join Sam Gaudet for a mellow recovery ride after the weekend's hard riding.  Base pace 12–14mph. Cruise on Minute Man trail for a winding tour on small streets of Lexington.  Meet at Alewife station near the taxi stand. (Basically the middle of the station on the West side.  Adjacent to where cars drive in to park, there is a sitting area with some funky wood benches.)

*** Bring proper navigation tools: GPS device, phone app, or cue sheet. Do not rely on others to help you with navigation. They may ride at a different speed than you. ***
