Odyssey 2000 Reports

By Larry and Joan Dolinski

NORTH AMERICA

Continued from update #20

On one of those days when Joan decided to sag the last 30 miles, Larry paired up with one of the less strong female riders (Lillian, who is deaf) who had never done a century and who believed that she could not do it. With encouragement and deliberate attention to "the mission", Larry brought her in. She got a standing ovation and congratulations from everyone in the group, and has been walking on air ever since. You can imagine how nice that made us feel.

One final note of closure on an episode we described much earlier. You may recall the drama of our injured friend Winn, whom we helped get an ambulance to get him from the "stone age" hospital in the hinterlands of Greece to a modern facility in Athens for medical treatment. Well, Winn returned last night to rejoin us in Quebec City. He claims to be well healed (pins & all), and is looking forward to the adventure ahead.
